COLORADO WOMEN INTRODUCE FIRST PUBLICATION
Seven Boulder writers (including Jyoti Wind) have come together to publish a new book entitled,
A Week’s Worth of Women, edited by local author and publisher, Jyoti Wind.
The publication is a unique collection of the authors’ personal writings. Readers of all ages will
enjoy the wit, humor, and touching stories written in poetry and prose. Both compelling and open
hearted, their writings will capture the imagination of all who read these stories.
From the back cover:
“This collection of stories in poetry and prose form, reveals the seemingly small events in life that
affect us deeply. I feel the sorrow, joy and tenderness of the writers rising off the pages to enter my
inner being, to stay there. Arlene S. Bice, author of Haunted Bordentown; Ghosts of
Bordentown; Images of America Series; and The Reading Corner, a book review column for the
Register-News.
Something magical happens when women gather to write. The voice of woman emerges in all its
many forms. From the tender worship of a delicate cup of tea to the wrestling with birth, death and
back again, the voice of woman fears nothing in its journey to express itself. This collection of
vignettes is a perfect potpourri of women’s voices. Honoring, acknowledging, rejoicing in, flailing
against, and ultimately embracing the many songs of life. I giggled, I shed a tear, I chuckled, I
commiserated. These are voices I know. These are the voices of woman. Cindy Morris, msw,

What shines through in this eclectic collection are the voices of the women, recounting seemingly
ordinary events, that become extraordinary and even mystical as each writer shares the essence of
their experience. Whether uncovering old memories, or relating a moment of insight, the voices
carry the weight of our communal concerns, hopes, and dreams. A wonderful, lyrical treatment of all
things feminine - and all things human. Jennie L. Brown, author Blue Moon Rising: Kentucky
Women in Transition, a workshop director for the International Women’s Writing Guild, named
Professor Emeritus by Western Kentucky University.
"These writings have the simplicity and immediacy of reading someone's journal entries. Evoking
with a vulnerable honesty both mood and memory as well as place and time, the reader can taste
the sweetness of watermelon, hear the quiet of a cedar root cave, and witness the magic of an
encounter with a fox." Paula Scardamalia, author of Weaving a Woman's Life: Spiritual Lessons
from the Loom. Professional writer, coach and speaker.
Into the Heart of the Flower:
Poetry, Prose and Meditations
From the back cover:
I didn't think you could put out another book as good as "By Grace's Edge," but
you've done it again. You've captured moods, feelings and beauty where it can't
be found unless you dig deep inside...and you make it look easy.
Your new book, INTO THE HEART OF THE FLOWER, a book of Poetry, Prose and
Meditations will be my favorite for easy chair reading in front of the fireplace well
into the future.. Your own words tell the story better than I can..."I'm not trying to
be perfect, I'm wanting to see more clearly," and "...seeking the ear of God." It
makes me realize that you have captured the essence of the book with the line...
"There is a larger brilliance at work here..." There certainly is and I thank you, Jyoti.
This small book is a lifetime treasure. Robert J. Morgan, Author, GOODBYE,
GERALDINE, facilitator of Memoir Writing Workshops.
These words are vintage Jyoti – ruthless truth and floating meditation – the
struggle of a woman’s voice to rise above the chatter. Christina Nealson, author
of MOTORHOME Zen: JOY RIDE TO THE BRINK; LIVING ON THE SPINE: A WOMAN’
S LIFE IN THE SANGRE DE CHRISTO MOUNTAINS; NEW MEXICO’S
SANCTUARIES, RETREATS AND SACRED PLACES; and facilitator of creative
writing workshops. www.christinanealson.com

From the Back Cover:
"Jyoti’s poems carefully carry us through her life with the strength of lessons well
learned. We see a woman who has been there and come out with what she went in
to find. I see these poems as women all around me on the bus, in the library, at
lunch. It’s nice to have another story where we all make it out on our own terms."
Brittany Baldwin, author of Broken Knuckles Against Knives Cutting The Food To
Feed Me Through This.
BING, BANG, ZAP¦ my friend, Jyoti, tells her story in prose, poetry and prayers in a
way that will wake you up, make you realize her story is yours, written in bare
naked language. Read it and see for yourself. You’ll enjoy the phrasings that say
so much in so few words. Some of the lines that will stay with me: To deepen into
life, forged in fire. I’d best be about my own fulfillment. I burst into tears at the truth
of what was seen. I am gathering, preparing to leap into the unknown Leap with
her, you won’t need a parachute. In fact, you won’t want one.
I’m honored that Jyoti wanted me to read her book, and make these few comments.
I do it in the hope that you’ll join her in this exciting journey to Grace’s Edge. Robert
J. Morgan, Author, GOODBYE,GERALDINE, Facilitator of Memoir Writing
Workshops
By Grace’s Edge is a rich collection of writings delving into that precious time in
between phases of our life. It is a universal story of leaving who we have been and
what roles we have taken on before we move into who we are becoming ~ a
process of reflection, requiring insight into the Self and the courage to see there
what is. Consistently the essence of who we are. Knowing how we play that out in
the world is yet to be seen and experienced.
In By Grace’s Edge, Jyoti expresses her time of deep reflection, looking back to
what she has learned, how she has given and how she has received, what she has
embraced and what she has rejected. Now with the fullness of all that she has
drunk of Life she enters into the empty void of what is yet to come. Her love of the
Ancient Ones, her connection to Nature, and her appreciation for her children are
her anchors on this rocky sea of passage.
